Refuse
We encourage the use of the blue tote to assist us in keeping our Village clean and greatly reduce rodent, insect, and litter problems. In the event, you have an overflow of refuse and have more materials than your tote can hold, you can utilize additional containers provided that the following acceptable preparation:

Republic Services Holiday Service Schedule
The following Holidays will affect your service if occuring on a weekday:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Service will be delayed a day.

Recycling
All recycling materials must be placed in the green tote. Extra material can wait until the following pickup day or be taken to our recycling site located at the Public Works building at 5550 West 98th Street, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Items left at the curb in other containers will be considered refuse. If you regularly have surplus material, consider requesting an additional green tote, there is no additional cost.
Yard waste pick-up runs from the first Monday in April to December 15th.
To aid residents with their environmental needs, the Village of Oak Lawn offers yard waste disposal through Republic Services.
The Village or the Village’s waste hauler (Republic Services / Allied Waste) does not collect debris generated from contractors. The contractor must haul away the debris.
Brown 96-gallon yard waste totes are available for purchase at the Village Hall. They are a $40 one-time fee, limit of three (3) totes per household. In the event the yard waste tote is damaged or stolen, the Village will not replace it. A new tote would have to be purchased. Alternative containment requirements for yard waste are as follows:
The Village will pick up any damage from a parkway tree. Please call the Department of Public Works, Forestry Division to log a request. Storm Damage from private trees normally requires the protocol for pickup by our waste hauler, Republic Services.
Occasionally, in extreme storm situations, the Village chipper will pick up storm damage from private trees. Call Public Works, (708) 499-7756 to inquire if we have set up emergency conditions and storm pick up for private property.
Tree and Brush Trimming
Republic Services / Allied Waste, the Village’s waste hauler, collects debris generated by woody plants. For all trimming, storm damage, and bush removal, place the debris at the same location as your pickup for household garbage. For collection, place the debris, bundled in 4’ lengths, 3’ wide or less, and less than 60 lbs. Separate logs from branches. This service is available the first full week in April until December 15th.
Whole Tree Removal
The Village will pick up tree debris generated from a whole tree removal performed by the homeowner. Place all debris at the curb (no alley pickup), cut ends toward the street, stacked neatly, and logs separate. Please call the Department of Public Works, Forestry Division, (708) 499-7756 to log your request by Thursday at 12:00 p.m. The debris will be inspected on Thursday and pickup will be on Friday. This service is available year-round.

- Plastic or metal cans that are no larger than 35 gallons.
- All bags or containers cannot weigh more than 50 lbs.

- Reinforced 33-gallon Kraft paper bags are acceptable containment.
- Yard Waste will NOT be accepted in plastic bags.
- Brush or branches are to be properly contained, bagged or bundled, and tied, so that one person can safely load it into the truck (4’ or less in length, and 50 pounds or less). All stone and dirt must be removed from shrubs.
