Public Works

The Public Works Department is dedicated to the provision of the highest quality of service to the residents of the Village of Oak Lawn through careful planning and efficient execution. The Public Works Department consists of 4 divisions, Streets, Sewers, Water, Equipment Maintenance.

In addition to maintaining 183.54 miles of public roadways including snow removal, street sweeping, street lighting, traffic signs, and paving; Public Works maintains the public right of ways and the Parkway Tree Planting Program. Our team oversees the maintenance and repairs of the sewer which is composed of two separate entities, a sanitary system and storm water system. Our water distribution system is highly recognized throughout the State of Illinois and provides water to neighboring communities, making the Village of Oak Lawn the 2nd largest user/supplier of Lake Michigan water.

Public Works is responsible for all Village-owned buildings and properties, including the commuter train station and administers contracted trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. The Public Works Equipment Maintenance division repairs and maintains all Village vehicles and equipment.
