Dear Village of Oak Lawn Resident:

The Village of Oak Lawn would like to inform you of recent ComEd price changes, how it compares to the Village’s electric aggregation program and how it potentially affects you as a participant.

Program Performance (Historical and Projected):

ComEd has announced their new base electric rates for the winter season (October 2015 – May 2016), which will be $0.07006 per kWh.  When we include the historical average Purchased Electric Adjustment the expected ComEd rate is expected to be $0.07145.  This rate is lower than the Oak Lawn aggregation program rate of $0.0725 per kWh.  Based on the current ComEd rates and historical Purchase Electric Adjustment, the average Oak Lawn home would save $5.88 by returning to ComEd.  Village residents may “opt-out” of the current aggregation program and return to ComEd with no cancellation fee by contacting MidAmerican Energy at 1-800-342-3346. Please make sure to have your ComEd account number available during the call.  As a reminder, any resident who decides to “opt-out” of the program will not be allowed to re-enroll for a period of six months.

ComEd’s rates may be adjusted for several factors throughout the course of 2015-2016.  There are some factors that can influence this rate to be either higher or lower in the coming months:

Several of those factors include:

  1. Purchased Electricity Adjustment (PEA) – a method ComEd uses to even out actual costs with upcoming costs. It is a charge that changes monthly and can be either positive or negative in value for those using ComEd as a supplier. The PEA’s monthly value has a cap of five tenths of a cent.  This cost component is unique to ComEd and is not included in the Oak Lawn aggregation rate.
  2. Additional Adjustments – refers to possible bad debt expenses for ComEd, transmission costs, and pending cases in the US Supreme Court that are expected to be resolved later this year.

For questions and concerns regarding the Village of Oak Lawn’s municipal aggregation program, please contact the office of Progressive Energy Group (1-888-463-8977) and speak to a representative.

Thank You,

Village of Oak Lawn
