With the State of Illinois moving into Phase 4 on Friday, June 26, 2020, the Village reopening will move to the second stage of our reopening plan effective June 29, 2020.

The second stage will include:

  • All employees and visitors will be required to wear masks when entering any Village owned building and observe social distancing whenever possible.
  • Public meetings and social events are limited to the lesser of 50 guests or 50% of overall room capacity.
  • Masks are required and social distancing is observed whenever possible.  This includes Board of Trustee meetings and all other public meetings.
  • All Departments of Village Hall will be open, including the second floor and basement.

OLPL Fan Fest: Epic Battles 

It's that time of year! The Oak Lawn Public Library is once again looking for local artists, writers, creators and vendors to share their knowledge, talents and nerd skills on May 7, 2016 at OLPL Fan Fest: Epic Battles, a celebration of pop culture and Free Comic Book Day.

The Library is looking for people interested in contributing to panel discussions or showcasing their wares in the Exhibit Hall. Complete an application by Monday, Nov. 30 at

Over 1,700 fans of all ages visited the Library last May for Fan Fest: Year One. This fantastic pop culture celebration included free comics, exhibits, panels, face painting, storytimes, photo booth fun and much more.

What:  Chicago entertainer and historian Clarence Goodman will thrill you with the sights of our first World’s Fair and disturbing stories of H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer.

Emergency Notification Sessions

What:  Representatives from Everbridge - the Village of Oak Lawn’s free emergency notification system that allows residents to sign up to receive emergency alerts on their cell phones, landlines and work phones - will offer information/registration sessions in the Oak Lawn Public Library’s Computer Training Center. The system is used to notify residents about imminent threats to health and safety, plus non-emergency alerts about road closures and street repairs.

                Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 2pm

                Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7pm

Stop, Drop and Roll (Ages 5-7)

What:  Celebrate Fire Prevention Week with a visit from an Oak Lawn firefighter. Enjoy stories and learn more about being a firefighter. Registration not required.

Sunday with Friends Concert Series – Ron & Sandie's Sing & Swing Show

What:  Entertainers Ron Camron and Sandie Triplett’s Sing & Swing show consists of high-energy song and dance numbers with music from the 1930’s through the 60’s. Sing, swing, jive and twist away the afternoon. Sunday with Friends concerts are sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Lawn Library.

StoryWalk® Fall Book: “It's Fall" by Linda Glaser

What:  The Oak Lawn Park District and the Oak Lawn Public Library have partnered together to offer StoryWalk® - a nationally recognized program to encourage literacy and promote physical activity. StoryWalk® transforms the pages of a children’s storybook into signs placed sequentially along the walking trail at Lake Shore Park. The book for the fall season is “It’s Fall” by Linda Glaser; different children’s stories will be featured seasonally.

Special Program – Do you have Columbus Day off from school? Check out the new book at the StoryWalk, play games, make a craft and enjoy the outdoors on Registration begins Friday, Oct. 2.

Free Mini Health Fair

What:  The Oak Lawn Community Partnership will hold a Mini Health Fair at the Oak Lawn Public Library in the lower level meeting rooms. Free blood pressure screenings, hearing tests (limit 15), glaucoma tests, Ask the Pharmacist and balance screenings will be offered on this day.

When:  Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 10am to Noon

The Comedy of Famous Pairs

What:  Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, and Lucy and Desi Arnaz. These comedic pairs and many others were responsible for bringing humor into our lives during wars, depressions and financial hardships. Larry and Clare Bergnach will bring back memories of these famous comedy teams during this entertaining presentation.
