D123 Celebrates Crosstown Classic Football Game:

OL Schools

*District 123 band students participated in the Bulldogs vs. Spartan Crosstown Classic half-time show as D123 families enjoyed a night of football, food, fireworks and fun!

Despite intermittent drizzle, approximately 70 District 123 students and family members attended a special end-zone picnic and seating at the HL Richards – Oak Lawn High School football game Friday, October 23 at Richards High School.

This year’s “Crosstown Classic” included a special fireworks presentation for the national anthem and a halftime show to rival typical 4th of July displays.  In addition, a number of D123 alumni were honored in a HL Richards High School senior night celebration for football players and cheerleaders.  Over 30 Oak Lawn – Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) band members joined the Richards marching band in performing half-time celebrations.

District 123 students wearing spirit wear from their school received free admission and all D123 family members were invited for a free hot dog, hamburger, or pasta picnic on the field just outside the end-zone.

Although a bit soggy, everyone enjoyed a true “Friday night football” community atmosphere.  Bulldog fans enjoyed a rather lopsided 41-0 victory. Good luck to the Richards Bulldogs as they begin the state 6A play-off tournament.
