Receiving Award

Sergeant Joseph Garrett of Oak Lawn Police Department was recognized Tuesday, November 3rd. Law enforcement officers from 21 different police departments had nominations for 2015 Cook County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Awards Ceremony. These officers nominated give inspiration to the level of service and professionalism needed to wear the badge.

"I want to thank Sheriff Dart for making a point to recognize the heroic every day efforts of our men and women in blue.   The stories that were relayed during this year's awards ceremony brought tears to my eyes.  I want to congratulate Officer Garrett for receiving an Award of Merit for his outstanding service and professionalism.  Every resident should be very proud of Officer Garrett and our dedicated Oak Lawn Police Department," said Mayor Bury.
