The Board Review

The Board voted to direct staff to look further into the feasibility of making Oak Lawn Matters a monthly Village newsletter that would be distributed to all homes in Oak Lawn free of charge.  It would serve as a handy reference for schedules of events, news items and other information about our Village.

The vision is to create Oak Lawn Matters as a true community newsletter which features news items from the Park District, Library, Schools and organizations in Oak Lawn.  Information would be factual, positive and non-political.

The Board is hoping to get their first newsletter out in June of 2016.  There will still be an electronic version of Oak Lawn matters as well for those who get their news online.  It is expected that the newsletter will be funded from advertising revenue, however it will likely require some financial commitment from the Village as well.

A few other items were acted on.  The Board gave the “OK” for the Advocate Children’s Hospital 9th Annual Running for Hope 5K (June 5, 2016) and the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce’s Spring Into Summer event (June 11, 2016.)

A new firefighter/paramedic hire was authorized and changes to parking signs for the East side of Meade Ave. between 91st Street to South of the school driveway.
