The Board Review

The Board of Trustees met on November 24, 2015 and presented monetary donations from the proceeds of Fall on the Green to Park Lawn and the Courage Program, both of which were in attendance to accept the checks.

The Board voted to approve a collective bargaining agreement between the Village of Oak Lawn and the Metropolitan Alliance of Police, Chapter 309.  This four year agreement has significant milestones.  For example, new hires must live in the State of Illinois and within 50 miles of the Village of Oak Lawn.  There is also an incentive for existing and new employees to live within Oak Lawn Village limits.  There is an agreement for greater sharing of the increasing costs of healthcare as well.  No arbitration was needed prior to approval of this collective bargaining agreement.

Various ordinances were approved.  Two-way (east/westbound) stop signs were approved to replace north/southbound yield signs at 88th and Mayfield Avenue.  A driveway width variation was approved on the 10300 block of South Laramie.  Height and setback variations were granted for an antenna tower on the 6400 block of West 93rd Place.  A  lot subdivision request was granted on the 10500 block of South Kostner.

The Board voted to approve the 2016 supply of graded limestone aggregate materials, sign materials, street bulbs and electrical supplies.  The police department requested and the Board approved a new 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle and a 2016 Ford Expedition from Hawk Ford.

Residents on the 9500 block of South Mc Vicker Avenue will enjoy new traffic calming improvements which the Board approved.  These were requested due to the increased traffic after the construction of the new First Midwest Bank and Walgreens on 95th & Mc Vicker Avenue.

Lastly, the Board voted to cancel the December 22, 2015 meeting due to the holidays.
