With the State of Illinois moving into Phase 4 on Friday, June 26, 2020, the Village reopening will move to the second stage of our reopening plan effective June 29, 2020.

The second stage will include:

  • All employees and visitors will be required to wear masks when entering any Village owned building and observe social distancing whenever possible.
  • Public meetings and social events are limited to the lesser of 50 guests or 50% of overall room capacity.
  • Masks are required and social distancing is observed whenever possible.  This includes Board of Trustee meetings and all other public meetings.
  • All Departments of Village Hall will be open, including the second floor and basement.

Chief

William “Randy” Palmer

Chief Palmer has been a member of The Oak Lawn Police Department since 1992. He has served as a patrol officer, detective and supervisor in both the Patrol and Detective Divisions. He served as a member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force as both an investigator and Assistant Commander. He was appointed to the position of Chief of Police in August 2017.

Chief Palmer earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Governors State University. He is a graduate of the 234th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.

 

 

Division Chief Daniel Vittorio

Dan Vittorio has been a sworn member of the Oak Lawn Police Department since 1997. He resides in the village with his wife and two children.  He was appointed to the position of Division Chief of Patrol in 2020. Dan was a member and supervisor of the K9 Unit and a Field Training Supervisor. Dan has also served as Executive Officer for the Region 4 South Mutual Aid Response Team and served as President of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team.  Dan earned a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Governors State University.  Dan is a graduate of the 269th class of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. He has also completed the Voluntary Police Chief Certification Program through The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.  

 

Division Chief Gerald Vetter

Investigations Division

Jerry Vetter has been a member of the Oak Lawn Police Department since 1998.  Jerry was born and raised in the village and has served the community in numerous positions within the police department as a patrol officer and supervisor.  After being promoted to Sergeant Jerry supervised in the patrol division, and canine unit.  Jerry has also been assigned to the investigations division having supervised in both criminal investigations and the tactical unit.  As a Lieutenant, Jerry was assigned to the patrol division midnight shift. Jerry was appointed to the position of Division Chief of Investigations in November of 2019.
